Dele Momodu reflects on his 2022 PDP presidential bid, regretting the N50 million spent on the nomination form. He revealed that a rival aspirant paid $30,000 to each delegate. Momodu vows to only pursue future bids if adopted as a consensus candidate.

Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine, has expressed regret over spending approximately N50 million on the PDP's 2022 presidential nomination form. In a recent interview, Momodu revealed that the primary election was heavily influenced by money, with one aspirant reportedly offering $30,000 to each of the 774 delegates. Despite his efforts, Momodu did not receive any votes in the primary.

Reflecting on his experience, Momodu stated that he would not pursue another presidential nomination unless he is adopted as a consensus candidate by a major party. He acknowledged the immense financial power of certain political figures, noting that many politicians in Nigeria have access to vast sums of untraceable money, making it difficult for candidates without such resources to compete effectively.

At the 2022 PDP primary, Atiku Abubakar emerged as the winner with 371 votes, while his closest rival, Nyesom Wike, secured 237 votes. Other candidates, including Bukola Saraki, Bala Mohammed, and Udom Emmanuel, garnered significantly fewer votes, with Momodu, Ayodele Fayose, and Sam Ohuabunwa failing to secure any support.

Momodu emphasized the deep role of money in Nigerian politics, which he believes distorts the democratic process and makes it nearly impossible for candidates without similar financial backing to succeed in election
