Delta State Police have arrested Efe Onoetiyi for allegedly murdering his friend Paulinus Okon over N30 million meant for property purchase. Onoetiyi, along with accomplices, reportedly beheaded Okon and disposed of his body. The police continue investigations, urging citizens to prioritize vigilance and report suspicious activities.

The Delta State Police Command has arrested Efe Onoetiyi, accusing him of orchestrating the gruesome murder of his friend, Paulinus Okon, over a financial dispute involving N30 million.

Abaniwonda Olufemi, the state’s police commissioner, revealed that Onoetiyi, in collaboration with three others, carried out the crime after misusing funds entrusted to him by Okon for a property purchase. The suspects—Okeimute Gaga, Lawrence Joseph, and Sunday Ikpeba—are also in custody.

Investigations showed that Onoetiyi had advertised a property worth N30 million to Okon, who made payments in three installments. Instead of completing the transaction, Onoetiyi used the funds for personal purchases, including a plot of land and a car.

When questioned by Okon’s family about his sudden disappearance, Onoetiyi claimed they had not been together. He later fabricated a story, alleging Okon had been kidnapped, with the abductors demanding N20 million as ransom.

The police investigation revealed that Onoetiyi and his accomplices lured Okon to Orere River in Otokutu, where they tied him to a stake and beheaded him. His body was disposed of in the river, while his head was reportedly buried at the shrine of a herbalist involved in the crime.

The Delta Police Command continues its investigation into the case, pledging justice for the victim and reiterating the importance of vigilance in financial dealings.
