Eight suspects have been apprehended in connection with the brutal murder of six policemen in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. The officers, including Inspector Abe Olubunmi (IRT) and Sergeant Ayere Paul, were ambushed on February 23 during a rescue mission.
According to Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects are aiding ongoing investigations, with initial arrests shortly after the incident and additional apprehensions thereafter.
The Nigeria Police Force expressed deep sadness over the violence and reiterated their commitment to swift justice for the fallen officers. This incident follows a recent surge in attacks on security personnel in Delta State, including the ambush and murder of 17 military operatives on a peace mission to Okuama and Okoloba communities.
The gruesome murders continue to draw condemnation, with President Bola Tinubu leading tributes to the fallen heroes alongside other dignitaries during their funeral rites.
