Benjamin Kalu, Nigeria’s Deputy Speaker, lauded President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing Igbo development since the Civil War, particularly through the South East Development Commission (SEDC). Kalu highlighted the defection of 3,000 people to the APC as a sign of support for Tinubu’s commitment to the Southeast’s growth.

Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, praised President Bola Tinubu for being the only leader to remember the Igbo ethnic group since the Nigerian Civil War. Speaking at an event in Ndoki, Ukwa East LGA, Kalu emphasized Tinubu's dedication to the development of the Southeast, particularly through the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

Kalu noted that the defection of over 3,000 individuals from various political parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC) reflected the gratitude of the people for Tinubu’s commitment to Ndigbo. He stated that the SEDC would address the region’s infrastructure needs, marking the beginning of the long-awaited reconstruction of the Southeast after the Civil War.

Kalu also welcomed the defectors to the APC, declaring that the party’s growing support in the region signifies a shift towards the politics of development. He assured the new members of empowerment opportunities within the party, reinforcing Tinubu’s commitment to improving the Southeast.
