An American woman shared her experience of being scammed by two Nigerian fraudsters in romance scams. Despite losing money, she expressed love for Nigerian men, calling them the "sexiest and most handsome men." The woman urged caution and discussed the ongoing issue of cybercrimes like romance scams.
An American woman recently opened up about being duped by two Nigerian internet fraudsters, commonly referred to as "Yahoo boys," in romance scams. Despite the financial loss, she expressed her continued admiration for Nigerian men, calling them "the sexiest and most handsome men on the planet."
In a viral video posted on social media, the woman detailed her encounters with the scammers, which began in 2020 when she met one of them on TikTok. She explained how, after a ten-month relationship marred by constant money demands, she discovered the scammer's true identity when he mistakenly called her using a Nigerian phone number. He later admitted his plans to marry his Nigerian girlfriend, which she acknowledged with best wishes.
Her second experience involved a different scammer, who posed as a young Nigerian student. After a year of communication, he revealed that he had been fabricating stories about his sick mother to extract money for her treatment. Despite the deception, she felt comforted knowing the money went towards a good cause, as the scammer's mother survived due to financial aid.
Though hurt by the scams, the woman emphasized that she would not allow the experience to tarnish her affection for Nigerian people. She urged caution and advised others to be aware of such schemes, while also reflecting on the struggles of women facing financial hardships in both the U.S. and Nigeria.
