According to SCORENigeria, Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has laid down strict rules ahead of the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. Determined to enforce discipline, Chelle has banned visitors from the team’s camp and warned that any player missing today’s training in Kigali will not feature in Friday’s match.
The former Mali coach, who reportedly accepted a significant pay cut to lead the Nigerian national team, has made it clear that he expects maximum commitment from his players. Victor Osimhen, one of the team’s key figures, revealed in a recent podcast that Chelle has set high expectations, emphasizing intensity and teamwork.
“We spoke, and he made it clear that every player must fight for the team. Anyone who doesn’t give 100% will not play,” Osimhen shared.
Chelle’s approach is aimed at instilling a strong work ethic and unity within the squad. He has also called on senior players, including Osimhen and William Ekong, to lead by example on the pitch.
Osimhen, among the first arrivals in camp, expressed his support for the coach’s philosophy, adding that Chelle wants to build a team that plays with passion and discipline.
With the Super Eagles in dire need of a win, Chelle’s tough stance could be the push the team needs to secure victory and keep their World Cup hopes alive. All eyes are now on Friday’s game to see if his methods will pay off.
