Country music legend Dolly Parton is mourning the loss of her husband, Carl Dean, who passed away at the age of 82. The couple, who shared nearly 60 years of marriage, kept their relationship private, with Dean staying out of the limelight despite his wife's global fame.

Dean, whom Parton married in 1966, supported her throughout her career but preferred to live a quiet life away from public attention. His passing was announced on March 3 through a heartfelt statement shared by Parton on Instagram. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years," Parton wrote. She requested privacy for her family as they grieve.

Though Dean rarely appeared alongside his wife in public, his influence on her music was significant. He famously inspired her hit song "Jolene," a track based on a real-life incident involving a woman flirting with him.

Outside of his connection to the legendary singer, Dean ran a successful asphalt business and led a reclusive life in Nashville. He is survived by his siblings, Sandra and Donnie.

Dean will be laid to rest in a private ceremony attended by close family members. Fans and fellow artists have extended condolences to Parton, recognizing the deep bond she shared with her late husband.
