The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has banned Nigerian para powerlifter Kafilat Almaruf for three years after detecting an anabolic agent in her urine sample. This doping violation breaches IPC and WADA regulations. Almaruf is suspended from all competitions until August 2027, highlighting the IPC's commitment to clean sports.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has imposed a three-year suspension on Nigerian para powerlifter Kafilat Almaruf following a doping violation. The decision stems from a test conducted in July 2024, which identified the presence of anabolic steroids of external origin in her system.
The banned substances, classified as exogenous anabolic agents, are prohibited under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) guidelines. The IPC emphasized that such substances are included in the 2024 Prohibited List and are banned at all times, both in and out of competition.
Almaruf’s provisional suspension began on August 19, 2024, pending the final resolution of her case. She accepted the findings and the penalties imposed, leading to her ineligibility for any sporting events until August 2027.
