NYSC member Ushie Uguamaye, known as Raye, was summoned after criticizing President Tinubu's government. Activist Omoyele Sowore and lawyers accompanied her, but NYSC officials failed to appear. The incident has sparked debates on free speech and political dissent, with concerns over intimidation of youth corps members.

A brewing controversy has erupted after Ushie Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, a Lagos-based National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, was summoned by NYSC officials following her viral criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. In a widely circulated TikTok video, Raye voiced frustration over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, describing the president as a "terrible leader." Her remarks sparked backlash, leading to alleged threats from NYSC officials and an official summons to appear before her Local Government Inspector (LGI).

In a show of solidarity, prominent activist Omoyele Sowore, alongside a team of lawyers, accompanied Raye to the Eti-Osa LGI office for the scheduled meeting. However, upon arrival, the officials were reportedly absent, failing to engage with the summoned corps member. Sowore later took to social media, calling out the NYSC for avoiding the confrontation. The incident has fueled debates over freedom of speech and political dissent in Nigeria, with legal experts and human rights activists questioning whether the NYSC's actions amount to intimidation.
