The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Lagos lawmakers Lanre Afinni and Sylvester Ogunkelu after questioning them over their alleged role in the removal of ex-Speaker Mudashiru Obasa. The lawmakers were accused of unlawfully accessing the mace to facilitate Obasa’s ousting.
Deputy Speaker Mojeed Fatai and other members intervened to secure their release. The Lagos State House of Assembly confirmed that due process was followed in Obasa’s removal, citing constitutional provisions. Chairman of the Assembly’s Information Committee, Stephen Ogundipe, emphasized that the decision was democratic and in Lagosians' best interest. He also praised the DSS for its professionalism in handling the matter.
