A man named Anthony Nephew killed his wife, ex-partner, and two children before taking his own life, allegedly over Donald Trump’s re-election. Authorities confirmed that Nephew had a history of mental health struggles and shared anti-Trump posts on social media. The motive for the killings remains unclear.
A tragic incident unfolded in Duluth, Minnesota, when Anthony Nephew, 46, killed himself, his wife Kathryn, ex-partner Erin Abramson, and two of his children. Authorities believe the killings were triggered by Nephew's anger over Donald Trump's victory in the November 5 election.
Nephew's ex-partner Erin, 47, and their 15-year-old son Jacob were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds at their home. Hours later, Nephew's wife Kathryn, 45, and their 7-year-old son Oliver were also found dead in their nearby home.
Duluth Police Chief Mike Ceynowa stated that Nephew had a history of mental health struggles. Before the killings, Nephew had been sharing anti-Trump and left-wing posts on his Facebook account, reflecting his political and emotional turmoil. In one post, Nephew expressed fear of religious zealots and criticized the political climate, particularly the impact of Republican policies on women in abusive relationships.
In another chilling post, Nephew warned about the mental health challenges many Americans face, writing that a breakdown could lead to suicide or homicide before suicide. He had previously written about the stigma surrounding mental health in the U.S. and the lack of adequate support for individuals facing such issues.
The motive behind the tragedy remains unclear, and while police have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community, the devastating impact of Nephew's actions continues to reverberate.
