The AEISCID condemned Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi's controversial remarks defending Senate President Akpabio in the ongoing sex scandal. The group called for his recall, criticizing his un-parliamentary conduct and suggesting political motivations behind his actions. Nwebonyi’s behavior has drawn sharp disapproval from the people of Ebonyi State.
The Ebonyi governance and accountability group, AEISCID, has issued a strong condemnation of Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi’s recent comments surrounding the sex scandal allegations involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The group accused Nwebonyi of making un-parliamentary and inappropriate remarks, particularly his public defense of Akpabio amid these serious accusations.
Ambassador Paschal Oluchukwu, AEISCID’s president, criticized Nwebonyi’s media attacks on respected figures such as Dr. Oby Ezekwesili and the alleged victim, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. Oluchukwu expressed deep concern over Nwebonyi's actions, which he argued undermine the dignity of the Senate and the people of Ebonyi State. He further called for Nwebonyi’s immediate recall if his inappropriate behavior continues. The group also raised suspicions about possible political motivations, hinting that Nwebonyi may be positioning himself for a future gubernatorial bid, which they believe would be disastrous for the state’s reputation.
AEISCID’s statement sent a clear message that Ebonyi State deserves better representation and that the Senator’s actions were a betrayal of the public trust. The group urged the people of Ebonyi North to take necessary actions to ensure their representative acts in a manner befitting his office.
