A human rights group, the Take It Back Movement, has initiated a nationwide protest in Lagos, denouncing the prevailing economic hardships gripping the country. This demonstration, although anticipated to precede the organized labor's scheduled protest on Tuesday, has defied warnings issued by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade.
Despite Fayoade's caution against violence and actions impeding the rights of others, such as traffic obstruction and commercial disruptions, the Take It Back Movement pressed forward with their protest. Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in Lagos, reiterated Fayoade's stance, emphasizing the commitment to safeguarding lives and property regardless of protest activities.
However, on Monday, protesters flooded the streets with placards, underscoring their determination to amplify their grievances despite the authorities' admonitions.
