The military juntas of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have officially withdrawn from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), sparking concerns about regional stability.
The three nations had hinted at forming a counter force, the Alliance of Sahel States, following the overthrow of Niger's democratically elected government.

ECOWAS Commission, led by President Bola Tinubu, insists it is yet to receive formal notification and remains committed to finding a negotiated solution for the restoration of constitutional order in the region
