Asue Ighodalo, PDP's Edo governorship candidate, reaffirms his faith in the judiciary as the tribunal proceedings for the disputed 2024 election intensify. Despite violence and intimidation tactics from the opposition, Ighodalo remains focused on reclaiming his mandate and working for the people of Edo State.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has reaffirmed his commitment to reclaiming his mandate in the ongoing Edo State election tribunal. Speaking outside the courthouse on Wednesday, Ighodalo thanked Edo citizens for their steadfast support during the legal process following the disputed September 2024 election. He expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice despite the challenges, including intimidation and violence aimed at disrupting the tribunal.

Ighodalo criticized the acts of violence, including an attack by a masked gunman outside the tribunal and a raid on a Benin hotel where PDP witnesses were staying. The PDP accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of using state resources to intimidate witnesses and derail the legal proceedings. The EFCC, which conducted the raid, denied any political motives.

Despite these disruptions, Ighodalo emphasized the importance of staying focused on the ultimate goal: reclaiming the mandate given by Edo voters. He called on his supporters to remain hopeful and resilient in the face of adversity. Ighodalo also expressed his dedication to improving the state, promising to eliminate poverty, fear, and intimidation, and unlock the state’s potential.
