His final words expressed unwavering love for Nigeria, urging unity and perseverance. He wished for celebrations, not mourning, and emphasized hospitality for visitors during his farewell.

The family of late Chief Edwin Clark, a revered leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has shared his last words before passing at 97 on Monday night.

According to his daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Clark-Okorodudu, and PANDEF’s National Chairman, Amb. Godknows Igali, Clark remained committed to Nigeria until his last moments. He reportedly said, “I am a Nigerian, I love Nigeria, Nigeria is my country, I am proud to be a Nigerian.” He urged his loved ones to continue striving for a better nation.

Clark, a prominent advocate for the South-South region, expressed his wish for a celebration of his life rather than mourning upon his passing. He insisted that those who visit his home during the period should be treated with hospitality.

His health deteriorated last Friday when he lost the ability to speak. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition before his demise.

Tributes have poured in from political and regional leaders, acknowledging his lifelong dedication to national unity and justice.
