Edwin Clark, leader of PANDEF, has urged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest Nyesom Wike, Minister of FCT, over his inflammatory remarks threatening to "put fire" in states governed by Siminalayi Fubara. Clark emphasizes that no one is above the law amid rising political tensions.

Edwin Clark, a senior political figure and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), has urged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take action against Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister. This appeal follows Wike's alarming statements made during a recent congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, where he threatened to “put fire” in states governed by those allied with Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor.

The ongoing conflict between Wike and Fubara has led to a deepening rift in Rivers State's political arena, causing factions to emerge within the state’s House of Assembly. Each faction has appointed a speaker aligned with either Wike or Fubara, complicating the political landscape.

In an open letter directed at Egbetokun, Clark criticized Wike for his comments, asserting that the minister has crossed a line. He stressed that "no one is above the law" and questioned the authorities' reluctance to act, especially given previous arrests related to similar threats, such as those against activist Omoyele Sowore.

At 97 years old, Clark reflects on his lengthy career in public service and expresses astonishment that a current official would resort to such remarks. He cautioned that Wike's behavior threatens the rule of law and undermines the integrity of the PDP in Rivers State, emphasizing the need for adherence to party regulations without personal biases.
