The EFCC responds to complaints about glitches in its car auction process, citing internet issues and high turnout. Despite allegations of rigging, the commission assures participants that those who followed the process will receive their vehicles and that complaints will be reviewed to ensure fairness.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has responded to widespread allegations of misconduct during its recent car auction process, explaining that technical glitches were caused by poor internet connectivity and the overwhelming number of Nigerians attempting to access the online platform. Over 4 million participants reportedly caused disruptions, including difficulties accessing the auction sites, being locked out after submitting bids, and complaints of inflated bid prices.

The EFCC, which faced accusations from Nigerians of rigging the auction process, clarified that while some participants faced challenges, those who completed the process would receive their vehicles. The commission acknowledged the glitches and assured the public that the issues were communicated to the auctioneers for corrective measures. However, the EFCC emphasized that it was unable to directly intervene in the auction, as it was managed by licensed auctioneers in compliance with relevant laws.

The commission also assured Nigerians that it would review the grievances raised and ensure that no one was unfairly disadvantaged. It is currently awaiting a report from the auctioneers to further address the concerns and uphold the integrity of the auction process, which took place in various cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
