The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 105 individuals, including four Chinese nationals, in connection with an alleged internet fraud scheme. The arrests took place on January 9 at a business apartment in Abuja’s Gudu area. Among the suspects are 67 males and 38 females, linked to a sophisticated hotel review job scam targeting European victims and establishments.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed the operation, emphasizing the agency's commitment to tackling internet fraud and corruption. The suspects were allegedly involved in creating fake reviews to deceive hotels and clients, generating significant financial losses.
The EFCC stated that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face prosecution upon completion. This crackdown is part of a broader effort to address cybercrime and protect Nigeria's international reputation.
