The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on Nigerian youths to actively participate in the fight against corruption. Speaking at a town hall event in Kano to mark the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyode, represented by Zonal Director Ibrahim Shazali, urged youths to support anti-corruption activities and uphold accountability in their communities.

Olukoyode highlighted various platforms designed to engage young people in the anti-corruption effort, including the Integrity Club for primary and secondary schools and the Zero Tolerance Club for tertiary institutions. He emphasized the importance of whistleblowing, encouraging youths to expose corrupt practices in their neighborhoods.

“There is no way corruption can be tackled if we allow it to thrive around us unchallenged,” he stated, urging youths to be proactive and progress-oriented in aligning with the commission’s goals.

The event also featured goodwill messages from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kano State Council, and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. Speakers addressed gaps in the ongoing anti-corruption efforts and provided recommendations for improvement.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to engaging the younger generation as a critical force in promoting transparency and combating corruption nationwide.
