The incident occurred when a J5 bus carrying children for the Eid-el Maulud celebration collided with an articulated vehicle due to speeding and overloading.
Initially, 25 deaths were reported, along with 48 injuries, but the number of fatalities increased as more victims passed away during treatment. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani expressed his deep sorrow over the loss and directed urgent medical care for the injured survivors.
The deceased have been buried according to Islamic customs.
