Nasir El-Rufai downplays political implications of his recent visit to former President Buhari, urging critics not to "lose sleep" over the meeting, which he describes as a gathering rooted in faith and unity. El-Rufai taunts political adversaries amid ongoing speculations.
In a recent statement, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed growing speculations surrounding his recent visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna. The meeting, which also included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other political figures, has sparked debates regarding potential political moves ahead of future elections.
However, El-Rufai, who recently switched allegiances from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), played down the political significance of the visit. On social media, he reassured his critics, stating that the gathering had no political agenda. "It is not about politics," he asserted, emphasizing that the visit was centered on faith and unity, as the group joined others for Jumaat prayers at the Yahaya Road Mosque before sharing lunch at Buhari’s residence.
El-Rufai’s remarks came in the wake of similar visits to Buhari from APC governors, further fueling the speculation that these meetings signaled a growing political movement. Despite this, El-Rufai seemed unconcerned with the political fallout, taunting his adversaries by declaring, “By the way, our adversaries should not lose any sleep. It is about unity and brotherhood, and since we are all politically irrelevant, we just prayed and enjoyed lunch with our mentor.”
This development comes as El-Rufai’s future political trajectory remains a topic of considerable interest, with observers closely watching any moves that could impact the upcoming elections in Nigeria.
