Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has claimed that the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) is planning to arrest him for his criticism of the federal government. Responding to a post on X, he alleged that authorities intend to detain him in the same facility where ex-CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was allegedly forced to resign.

El-Rufai, currently studying in Egypt, announced he would return to Nigeria on February 20, asserting he is unafraid of imprisonment. His tensions with the ruling APC and Kaduna Governor Uba Sani have escalated following allegations of financial mismanagement during his tenure.
