Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, addressed the palace blockade disrupting District Head Munir Bayero's relocation to Bichi. Assuring a peaceful resolution, Sanusi urged calm and prayer, promising a new date for the transition. Local leaders reaffirmed their loyalty amid community concerns over the unexplained security presence at the palace.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has responded to the recent blockade of his palace, which disrupted plans to relocate District Head Munir Bayero to Bichi Local Government Area. Speaking during a visit from traditional and religious leaders led by Alhaji Hamza Sule, Chairman of Bichi Local Government, the Emir assured the community that the matter would be resolved peacefully.
The incident occurred last week when security forces reportedly surrounded the palace, preventing Bayero from proceeding to his new position. Palace sources disclosed that Bayero, who was recently turbaned, had been scheduled to travel to Bichi to assume his duties.
In his address, Emir Sanusi acknowledged the confusion surrounding the blockade, noting that the reasons behind the security presence remain unclear. "This unexpected development was merely a distraction," he stated. "We will set a new date for the transition, and it will occur peacefully. I urge everyone to remain calm and prayerful."
The Emir emphasized the importance of patience and unity, urging the public to focus on peace. He assured the delegation that Bayero's relocation would proceed without further issues.
Sule, representing the Bichi community, reaffirmed their loyalty to Emir Sanusi and expressed their disappointment over the incident. "The people of Bichi remain fully supportive of your leadership and eagerly await the District Head’s arrival," he said.
