Adamu Garba claims the North was deceived into participating in nationwide protests against bad governance in Nigeria. The protests, driven by economic hardship, have sparked diverse reactions and ethnic tensions. Critics question Garba's stance and urge northern communities to protect their interests.

Amid ongoing nationwide protests against bad governance in Nigeria, Adamu Garba, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed that the North was deceived into participating in the demonstrations. Garba expressed his concerns on social media, stating that northern influencers pushing for the protests have been manipulated to destroy their commonwealth.

"The North is played into this protest of vandalism. Those northern influencers pushing for this protest should by now, realize that they have been used to destroy their commonwealth," Garba posted.

The protests, which commenced on August 1 and are set to continue until August 10, 2024, have seen Nigerians from various regions rally against widespread hunger and inflation. Organizers have voiced their frustrations over the country's deteriorating economic conditions, driving citizens to the streets.

The reactions to Garba's statements have been mixed. On Nairaland, a popular Nigerian online forum, users expressed their diverse opinions. SisterJolade criticized Garba, questioning his previous silence on the hunger issues faced by some northerners. Racoon argued that certain figures are attempting to misrepresent the protests as an Igbo affair, highlighting longstanding ethnic tensions. Other users, like madridguy, urged the northern region to protect their property and avoid being misled into destructive actions.

Overall, the protests have ignited significant discourse across Nigeria, revealing deep-seated frustrations and varied interpretations of the motivations and impacts of the demonstrations.
