Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, has taken over the case files of protesters arrested during the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations. He will review the charges, including treason, and has directed the Director of Public Prosecution to expedite court proceedings, reflecting the government’s commitment to due process.

In a significant development regarding the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, the Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, has intervened by taking over the case file from the police. The announcement came after it was revealed that several protesters had been arraigned in court, facing serious charges, including treason.

In a press release issued on November 1, 2024, Fagbemi expressed his intention to review the circumstances surrounding the arrests to ensure informed decisions are made regarding the ongoing legal proceedings. He acknowledged that the court had remanded the defendants in detention centers and set the next hearing for January.

Although he clarified that he does not have the authority to alter the court's remand order, he directed the police to transfer the case file to his office for further evaluation. He also instructed the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) to expedite processes that could potentially bring the case back to court sooner than the scheduled adjournment date.
