Protest organizers in Lagos have decided to end their demonstrations following President Bola Tinubu's appeal for dialogue during his nationwide broadcast on August 4, 2023. The protests, which had been ongoing at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota since last Thursday, were called off after the President acknowledged the protesters' concerns and urged for peace.

Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, confirmed the decision on his X account, noting that the protest leaders informed the police of their intention to disperse. In his address, President Tinubu expressed understanding of the protesters' pain and frustration but cautioned against allowing violence to disrupt the nation's stability.

He emphasized the government's commitment to addressing the concerns of citizens and called for unity to build a brighter future for Nigeria.
