Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, urges youths to allow more time for the Federal Government to address Nigeria’s economic crisis, citing global inflation. He supports peaceful protests but warns against property damage, emphasizing that hardship is a global issue and protests should avoid harming public assets.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has urged youths planning to participate in the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protests to grant the Federal Government additional time to address Nigeria’s economic difficulties. Speaking on Channels Television’s "Politics Today," the monarch characterized the nation’s economic challenges as part of a broader global issue, emphasizing that the current hardship is not unique to Nigeria but a widespread phenomenon.

He acknowledged the legitimacy of public grievances but cautioned against any destruction of property during the protests, warning that such actions would ultimately harm the people themselves. The protests, which are scheduled to occur in August across Nigeria, reflect widespread discontent over soaring inflation and economic crises exacerbated by recent government policies.

The planned demonstrations have gained momentum on social media despite warnings from security agencies and political leaders who fear a repeat of the EndSARS protests of October 2020. Despite these concerns, the youth remain resolute in their plans to protest.
