Tragic events unfolded in Kano during the #EndBadGovernance protest, where stray bullets from police allegedly killed a bride-to-be and three teenagers. The violence, occurring at multiple locations including Rijiyar Lemo and Kofar Nassarawa, has led to calls for investigations and accountability.

During a recent #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano State, Nigeria, a tragic series of incidents unfolded, resulting in the deaths of several individuals, including a bride-to-be. Firdausi Muhammad, who was set to marry next week, was fatally struck by a stray bullet allegedly fired by a police officer in Rijiyar Lemo.

The unrest, which occurred on Saturday, saw similar incidents in Kofar Nassarawa and Kurnar Asabe. Abdulkadir Labaran Babah Alfindiki was reportedly killed in Kofar Nassarawa, while 15-year-old Kashifu Abdullahi Gyaranya lost his life under tragic circumstances as he left home to meet friends. Umar Abubakar Hausawa was also reported killed by a stray bullet in Kofar Nassarawa.

Victims' families expressed their grief and frustration. Aisha Isah Babah, Abdulkadir's mother, lamented her son's death, revealing her helplessness as an orphaned parent. Maryam Sani, Kashifu's mother, recounted her last conversation with her son before the devastating news of his death. Rabiu Abubakar, Umar’s brother, described Umar’s last moments and his fatal attempt to retrieve his younger siblings from the protest.

State Police Command spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa explained that the police response was a reaction to protesters’ attempts to enter shops and violence against officers. He confirmed that an investigation into the incidents is underway to clarify the details of the situation and ensure accountability.
