In a significant development, the Kaduna State Government has announced the relaxation of the dusk-to-dawn curfew in Kaduna and Zaria, effective immediately from Tuesday, August 13, 2024. This decision follows a comprehensive security review by the Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani.

The curfew, which previously restricted movement from 6 pm to 8 am, has been fully lifted. This move allows residents of Kaduna and Zaria, along with their surrounding areas, to freely engage in their daily activities without time restrictions. The announcement was made by Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

While the curfew has been removed, the Security Council has advised that any public processions or gatherings must be authorized by relevant agencies to prevent potential disruptions and ensure public safety. The Council emphasized that security forces will remain vigilant and continue to address any threats to peace.

Governor Sani expressed his gratitude to security agencies, and religious, and traditional leaders for their efforts in managing the unrest that arose from the recent #EndBadGovernance protests. He reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety and development of Kaduna State. The Governor's inclusive approach aims to foster stability and engage stakeholders in promoting harmonious living in the region.
