Sunday Igboho opposes the #EndBadGovernance protest, calling it politically motivated and urging Yoruba people to avoid violence. He defends Tinubu's administration and emphasizes peaceful dialogue over destructive actions.

Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, has openly opposed the planned nationwide protests set to begin on August 1. The protests, organized under the banner #EndBadGovernance, aim to address the economic hardships faced by Nigerians.

In a statement released last night, Igboho expressed his concerns about the motives behind the protests. He emphasized that the protests were being orchestrated by unknown and faceless individuals with intentions to destabilize the country. "I, Chief Sunday Igboho, am issuing this press release in response to the planned protests by some unknown and faceless individuals, who are working to disintegrate the country," he stated.

Igboho defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, highlighting the bold and revolutionary policies implemented since Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023. According to Igboho, these policies have disrupted the plans of those who believe it is their birthright to rule Nigeria, leading to attempts to undermine the administration.

He further noted that while the right to peaceful protest is constitutionally protected, calls for an unconstitutional regime change are not acceptable. Igboho drew attention to the fact that during President Buhari's tenure, there were no protests for regime change from the Southwest, even in the face of oppression and atrocities.

Igboho cautioned against using the Southwest as a battleground for political upheaval. "The Yoruba Nation Movement and I firmly declare that we will not participate in any protest aimed at using the Southwest as a battleground for political upheaval," he asserted.

The activist acknowledged the economic hardships but emphasized that these are global issues, not unique to Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to focus on constructive dialogue and development rather than destructive protests.

The statement has elicited mixed reactions on social media. Some users accused Igboho of betraying the cause, while others supported his stance against violence. Comments ranged from accusations of bribery to criticisms of tribalism. Many expressed disappointment in Igboho, questioning his motives and authenticity as a freedom fighter. Others, however, agreed that protests should remain peaceful and not lead to further instability.

Overall, Igboho's call for restraint and his defense of Tinubu's policies have sparked a heated debate among Nigerians, reflecting the deep-seated tensions and diverse opinions on the country's political landscape.
