Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, has responded to Daniel Bwala, the special adviser on policy communication to President Bola Tinubu, following Bwala's comments about el-Rufai's criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-Rufai, who was a founding member of the APC, expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s current direction, noting that the party seemed to have deviated from its core principles. He highlighted that there has been no internal party meetings or caucus gatherings for over two years, leading him to question whether the APC had become a “zero-man show.” His comments, made during a national conference in Abuja on January 28, 2025, reflected his frustration with the party’s current state.

In response, Bwala questioned if el-Rufai’s opinion would have been different had he been part of Tinubu’s cabinet. El-Rufai, in his January 30 reply, dismissed the idea, stating that his views on the APC and the government would have remained the same, regardless of his position. He also revealed that he had previously made it clear to Tinubu that he was not interested in joining the administration.

El-Rufai further criticized Bwala and others in the Tinubu government, calling them “latter-day converts” with flexible morals. He emphasized that loyalty to God and country should always come before allegiance to any individual or party, urging Bwala to enjoy his current role while remembering this principle.
