Former Rivers State Head of Civil Service, George Nwaeke, has accused suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of massive corruption and vowed to provide evidence to security agencies. Nwaeke also alleged that Fubara ordered the burning of the state assembly. Fubara dismissed the claims, calling them politically motivated.

Former Rivers State Head of Civil Service, George Nwaeke, has vowed to present evidence of financial mismanagement under the suspended governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, Nwaeke described the alleged theft of public funds as unprecedented in the state's history, citing the high revenue allocation during Fubara’s tenure.

While refusing to disclose all details publicly, Nwaeke stated that he would provide security agencies with the necessary proof when required. He further accused Fubara of directing his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to burn down the Rivers State House of Assembly, claiming he witnessed a bag of money being handed to Ehie for the operation.

Fubara has denied the allegations, calling them a ploy to tarnish his reputation. He insisted that Nwaeke had been “compromised” and coerced into making false accusations. The accusations come amid the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, where tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have escalated.

The claims have sparked mixed reactions, with political analysts suggesting that the crisis is deeply rooted in power struggles rather than governance concerns. The security agencies are yet to comment on Nwaeke’s claims, but observers anticipate further political fallout as the situation unfolds.
