Bright Omokaro, a former Super Eagles player, criticized the current team for lacking cohesion and seriousness compared to past squads. In a Brila FM interview, he expressed disappointment over the team's commitment and performance, highlighting the need for dedication and teamwork to succeed in upcoming competitions, including the 2026 World Cup.

Bright Omokaro, a former player of the Super Eagles, has voiced strong criticism about the current state of Nigeria’s national football team. Speaking on Brila FM, Omokaro lamented the decline in the team's performance and commitment compared to past generations.

Omokaro recalled a time when the team exhibited exceptional unity and dedication. “There was significant cooperation and cohesion. Players were committed to the cause, and stubbornness was only tolerated if it was paired with effectiveness,” he said. He contrasted this with the current squad, which he believes lacks seriousness and determination.

The ex-player highlighted that, in his view, it is now easy to identify which players are genuinely committed to success. “The current team lacks seriousness. You can easily see who is willing to win,” Omokaro observed. He criticized the selection process, noting the inclusion of players who seem unfamiliar and less impactful compared to the past.

Despite his critical stance, Omokaro remains hopeful about the team's future. “There is a slim chance for the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but football is unpredictable. Success requires hard work and a determined mindset from the players,” he added. Omokaro’s comments underscore his belief that a return to the dedication of previous eras could restore the Super Eagles’ standing in international football.
