The EFCC has arrested former Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku over allegations of misappropriating N9.3 billion in public funds during his tenure. He faces charges of criminal breach of trust and fund diversion between 2015 and 2021, as part of an ongoing crackdown on corruption.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Darius Ishaku, the former governor of Taraba State, over allegations of misappropriating N9.3 billion during his time in office. Ishaku is accused of criminal breach of trust and diversion of state funds, alongside Bello Yero, a former permanent secretary in the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Charges against him include siphoning N1.1 billion from contingency funds between 2015 and 2016 and diverting N3.3 billion and N639.4 million between 2019 and 2021. Ishaku, who served as governor from 2015 to 2023, had previously been questioned by the EFCC in July 2023 regarding financial irregularities during his administration.
He now faces trial for these charges involving the illegal diversion of state resources. The case is part of the EFCC’s ongoing crackdown on public officials implicated in corruption and financial mismanagement.
