The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has raised strong objections to President Bola Tinubu's approval for the relocation of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) headquarters and certain Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) departments from Abuja to Lagos.
Professor Muhammad Baba, the ACF's national publicity secretary, characterizes the move as a deliberate plot against the Northern region, denouncing it as part of a troubling pattern of antagonistic actions by federal government agencies.
The ACF cites a viral letter from contractor avsatel proposing the relocation of the airport rescue and fire fighting vehicles (ARFF) refurbishing project from Katsina to Lagos as evidence of a calculated effort to disadvantage the North. While FAAN insists the decision resulted from wide consultations, the ACF urges President Tinubu's government and the National Assembly to intervene, calling for a reconsideration of the decisions to address alleged office overcrowding. The forum also cautions against relocating the ARFF project from Katsina to Lagos, emphasizing Katsina's original designation as the project's location.
