Popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, is set to be released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5, 2024, after serving a six-month sentence for naira abuse. This information was confirmed by a prison source and Bobrisky’s lawyer, Ayo Olumofin. According to the source, Bobrisky will be freed on Monday, with no specific plans for the release beyond standard procedures.

Bobrisky was sentenced on April 12, 2024, by Justice Abimbola Awogboro, who has since been promoted to the Court of Appeal. Despite filing an appeal, it is unlikely that it will be reviewed before his sentence ends. The charges stemmed from allegations of naira abuse, with accusations that Bobrisky tampered with N400,000 and N50,000 during two separate events in 2023. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted the case, stating that Bobrisky's actions occurred at social gatherings, including one at IMAX Circle Mall in Lekki and another in Ikorodu.

The EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, had detailed these incidents during the trial. As Bobrisky’s release approaches, public interest and anticipation are growing, with fans eagerly awaiting his return to social media.
