A gas tanker explosion rocked Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, claiming four lives. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm at the Ita-Oshin end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was caused by brake failure, leading the gas-laden tanker to collide with the road divider.
The resulting inferno resulted in multiple casualties and extensive damage to buildings and shops in the vicinity. Emergency responders, including the State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service Department, Federal Road Safety Corps, and security personnel, promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. Oluwasegun Ayansiji, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, confirmed ongoing rescue efforts and promised further updates.
