Eyewitnesses revealed that the truck, which was carrying palm oil and wooden materials, lost control and crashed into the bus, crushing it completely. The shuttle bus was filled with students, and the collision led to the immediate death of six students and the driver. The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) arrived at the scene to rescue trapped victims, and the bodies were moved to the morgue for identification.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, including the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja and Kogi State Specialist Hospital, for medical treatment. While officials have not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties, the situation has caused an outpouring of grief among students, who have taken to social media to mourn their lost friends.
