Tunji Bello, CEO of the FCCPC, advises Nigerians not to expect President Tinubu to replicate his Lagos success at the federal level. He cites complex national challenges like infrastructure, fuel shortages, and security as reasons for different outcomes. Bello expresses confidence in Tinubu’s commitment to public service.

In a recent interview, Tunji Bello, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and a close ally of President Bola Tinubu emphasized that Nigerians should not expect the same level of performance from Tinubu at the federal level as he demonstrated during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State.

Bello, who served under Tinubu between 2003 and 2007, acknowledged the significant challenges facing the president, describing them as "gargantuan problems." He noted that the complexity of governance at the national level differs markedly from that of Lagos, where local dynamics do not apply.

He highlighted that the concept of "Federal Character" complicates decision-making, stating, "When you get to the Centre, you have to consider the interests of various regions." This contrasts with Lagos, where such considerations are less prominent.

Bello expressed confidence in Tinubu's commitment to addressing the nation's issues, including infrastructure, fuel shortages, and security challenges. He believes the president is dedicated to serving the interests of Nigerians but achieving success will require a different approach and careful analysis of the diverse problems at hand.
