The FCCPC has vowed to continue its investigation into Air Peace despite accusations of blackmail. The investigation focuses on alleged unfair pricing practices, including significant fare hikes for domestic flights. The FCCPC reaffirms its commitment to addressing consumer complaints and ensuring compliance with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act.

The FCCPC has confirmed its ongoing investigation into Air Peace over alleged unfair pricing and exploitative practices, including significant fare hikes and flight cancellations. Despite the airline’s protests, the commission stresses that it will continue its probe, aiming to protect consumer rights and ensure fair competition in the aviation sector.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has emphasized that it will not be deterred by any form of blackmail in its ongoing investigation into Air Peace’s business practices. The commission, in a statement released on Sunday, reaffirmed its commitment to take necessary actions based on its governing regulations.

The FCCPC began its investigation on December 1, focusing on complaints of exploitative pricing within the aviation industry. Specifically, it is examining Air Peace over alleged price hikes for advance bookings on domestic flights. The airline has vigorously denied the allegations, labeling them as unfair and damaging to its reputation. In response, the FCCPC clarified that the inquiry was still ongoing, urging the public to disregard false reports not issued through its official communication channels.

During a press conference on Friday, Air Peace made several contentious claims regarding the investigation, including a statement that only the aviation regulatory agency had the authority to investigate its operations. The FCCPC countered these claims, asserting that passengers, as consumers, have the right to report unfair practices, which is within the commission’s mandate under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA).

The FCCPC pointed out that numerous complaints had been filed against the airline, including accusations that Air Peace influenced other airlines to raise ticket prices. Some passengers also raised concerns over Air Peace’s flight delays and arbitrary cancellations without proper compensation.

The FCCPC continues to investigate these claims, stating that it will not be intimidated by any tactics aimed at undermining its work.
