FCT police are investigating a viral video of alleged bullying at Beautiful Beginning Academy, Abuja. The footage shows senior students reportedly intimidating a junior student. The school principal claims it was a dramatized act, not bullying. Public outrage persists as authorities probe the matter to uncover the truth.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) authorities have launched an investigation into alleged bullying at Beautiful Beginning Academy, Abuja. A viral video that surfaced on December 2 depicts senior students reportedly intimidating a younger student, identified as Imitiyas, a Senior Secondary School (SS2) student.
In the footage, Imitiyas appears restrained with a chain around his neck and is instructed to lie on the floor while surrounded by other students. The video has sparked public outrage and demands for immediate action.
Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT police, confirmed the probe, though she noted that the alleged victim's family had not filed a formal complaint. Speaking to the press, Adeh emphasized that the investigation aims to uncover the incident's facts.
Aaron Ipke, the school principal, addressed the matter during a press briefing in Abuja, dismissing the claims of bullying. According to Ipke, the students were engaged in a "playful performance" that was misinterpreted as harassment. He stated that the scene was staged in the hostel, with other students present as spectators.
Ipke defended the school's reputation, asserting that no reports of bullying had been recorded in its 14-year history. He added that the school operates an open-door policy, encouraging students to report concerns directly to administrators.
