Two residents of Gwargwada, FCT, were killed by kidnappers after a delay in ransom payment. The victims were abducted alongside two others, who were later released after a N3 million ransom was paid. Local authorities are working to recover the bodies, while security concerns in the region persist.
Two residents of Gwargwada in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been killed by their abductors due to a delay in ransom payment. The victims, identified as Mohammed Danladi and Nasiru Yusuf, were taken hostage alongside a herder and a woman at Gwombe Junction along the Gwargwada-Rubochi road.
According to a relative of the deceased, Shuaibu Abdullahi, the kidnappers initially demanded N500,000 per victim. However, the families could only gather N500,000 in total. Unaware that the captors had already executed the two men, the families informed the gang leader about their limited funds during a phone call on Friday.
Meanwhile, the other two captives, a herder and a woman, were freed after a separate ransom of N3 million was paid at the kidnappers’ hideout in Kotonkarfe forest, Kogi State.
Confirming the tragedy, the traditional ruler of Gwargwada, Ugbada Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, stated that the victims were ambushed while returning from Rubochi. He lamented that their bodies had yet to be retrieved, though local authorities, hunters, and vigilantes had been mobilized for a search operation in Kotonkarfe forest.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the FCT Police Command regarding the incident.
