NELFUND (1).png
The long-awaited student loan scheme initiated by the Nigerian government has finally commenced, targeting 1.2 million students across various federal institutions. In its first phase, 126 federal universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and technical colleges are eligible for the interest-free loan, aimed at providing financial assistance to needy students.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) oversees the program, with plans to include state-owned institutions in subsequent phases. Eligible students can apply through the NELFUND website, portal.nelf.gov.ng. However, concerns arise as only federal institutions are included initially, leaving students from state-owned institutions awaiting inclusion.

As the scheme unfolds, stakeholders anticipate further updates and improvements to ensure broader access to education for all Nigerian students.
