Federal University Gusau has disowned Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, refuting claims of his professorship and employment at the institution. The university states his documents were fraudulent, part of a scheme orchestrated by former officials. Odoh’s disavowal follows his controversial removal as Vice Chancellor at UNIZIK.
The Federal University Gusau has publicly distanced itself from Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, the recently sacked Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka. According to the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muazu Abubakar, Odoh was never employed by Gusau University, nor was he confirmed as a professor there.
Abubakar clarified that the documents Odoh had presented, including letters of appointment and confirmation as a professor, were fraudulent. These letters were purportedly issued years after Odoh's departure from the institution, and investigations revealed they were part of a scheme involving the former Vice Chancellor and Registrar at Gusau University.
Prof. Abubakar stressed that Odoh was briefly employed as a visiting staff member in 2014-2015 but did not teach or assume duties during that time. The university further emphasized that there was no official documentation regarding Odoh's employment, dismissing his claims as fraudulent. The controversy follows Odoh's recent dismissal from UNIZIK, where he had been appointed as Vice Chancellor amidst allegations of procedural irregularities.
The Federal University Gusau has unequivocally stated that Odoh was never part of its academic staff, calling his claims an attempt to use the institution’s name to further his ambitions of becoming Vice Chancellor at UNIZIK.
This disavowal adds to the growing scrutiny around Odoh’s tenure and raises questions about the validity of his academic credentials.
