The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway will be ready within 14 months. The project includes reinforced concrete roads, solar lighting, and improved drainage. Divided into three segments, it underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to infrastructure, with extended routes to Aminu Kano Airport and Abuja-Lokoja Road.
The Federal Government has announced that the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway will be completed within 14 months. Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, revealed this during the launch of rehabilitation works on the Abuja-Kaduna section. The project was divided into three segments—Abuja to Kaduna, Kaduna to Zaria, and Zaria to Kano—for efficiency.
The upgraded road will feature reinforced concrete pavement, solar-powered lights, median barriers, and improved drainage systems. Minister of Works, David Umahi, emphasized that the redesign ensures the road’s durability for up to 100 years. Umahi also highlighted additional extensions to the Aminu Kano International Airport and Abuja-Lokoja Road.
The road rehabilitation became necessary due to extensive wear and tear, including cracks, potholes, and poor drainage. Emergency repairs are ongoing in multiple sections to ease current traffic challenges. The government replaced the initial contractor, who projected a three-year timeline, to meet President Bola Tinubu’s mandate for completion within 14 months.
