Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and generosity during the festivities. He also called for prayers for the nation’s stability while extending warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslims.
The Federal Government has announced Monday and Tuesday as public holidays in observance of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This declaration was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, in an official statement on Wednesday.
Eid-el-Fitr is a significant Islamic festival marking the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims. In light of the celebration, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, urged the Muslim community to uphold values such as self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace. He also emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering national harmony.
The minister called on Nigerians to use the occasion to offer prayers for the country’s peace, stability, and development. He further encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly while remembering the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity, in line with the true essence of Ramadan and Eid.
Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful. He expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to individuals and communities across the country.
Nigerians are expected to observe the public holidays with family gatherings, prayers, and festivities in mosques and homes. Authorities have also urged citizens to remain security-conscious and celebrate peacefully during the holidays.
