In a significant move aimed at alleviating the financial strain on Nigerians during the festive season, the Federal Government has fulfilled its promise of a transportation waiver, slashing road transport costs by 50 percent.

Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake, in a press conference in Abuja, emphasized that this intervention is a testament to President Bola Tinubu's dedication to the well-being of citizens during the Yuletide.

The participating companies, including GIG (God is Good), Chisco Transport, Young Shall Grow, God Bless Ezenwata, and Area Motor, were revealed by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga.

The listed routes span major destinations, offering a significant discount on fares.

The initiative also extends to rail transportation, providing a 100 percent waiver from December 21, 2023, to January 4, 2024. With transportation costs soaring after the fuel subsidy removal earlier in the year, this intervention comes as a welcome relief for many Nigerians relying on road travel during the holiday season.

The government's comprehensive package, addressing various concerns, aims to make the festive period more accessible and enjoyable for citizens across the country.
