This move, detailed in a circular by Mahmud A. Kambari, Permanent Secretary for Social Welfare in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, is part of heightened security measures for the annual commemoration. The highlight of the event will be a wreath-laying ceremony led by the President on January 15.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day honors Nigeria’s fallen soldiers and veterans, marking the end of the Civil War in 1970. Observed yearly on January 15, it features various activities, including the Remembrance Emblem launch, Nigerian Legion Humanitarian Day, and a military parade.
