The Federal Ministry of Education has suspended 13 students from the Federal Government College (FGC) Enugu following a viral video showing them bullying a fellow student. The suspension lasts for six weeks, with the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to a safe school environment.

The bullying incident occurred on November 7, when a group of students allegedly assaulted a day student in SS1. The disturbing video of the attack circulated widely on social media, prompting the Ministry to take swift action. In response, Dr. Alausa set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the matter further.

The ministry has also directed the School Based Management Committee (SBMC) to collaborate with security agencies in the investigation, which may involve external groups. Furthermore, measures have been put in place to enhance security at the school, including engaging law enforcement and reviewing safety protocols.

To aid in the students' rehabilitation, counseling services will be provided, focusing on reintegrating them into a positive school environment. Dr. Alausa stressed that the ministry would continue to take firm action against bullying to ensure the safety and discipline of all students. The suspension is pending the completion of the full investigation into the incident.
